What’s a good shotgun for someone small? Need advice…

I use an AR-15 chambered in .22 for home defense. With a 25-round mag, it’s effective but less likely to over-penetrate walls. It’s also easy to patch drywall if needed. Just my two cents.

An AR in .22 is okay if it’s all you have, but a .223/5.56 is much better for defense. It’s more reliable and stops threats more effectively. Don’t underestimate an intruder—use the best ammo and tools you have.

You don’t need to aim with a shotgun, right?

@Samuel
Actually, you do. At home defense distances, a shotgun’s spread is only a few inches. If you don’t aim, don’t shoot. An AR might even be a better option for you—less recoil, easier to handle.

So every answer here just assumes I’m clueless? Cool.

@Samuel
You absolutely have to aim. Defensive loads in a shotgun don’t spread more than a few inches at indoor distances.

Shotguns are harder to master than ARs because they have heavy recoil, limited capacity, and a slow reload process. ARs are lighter, hold more rounds, and are easier to use under stress.

I think shotguns might not be the best for defense since the shot could spread and hurt someone else. Maybe a pistol would be a better option—it’s easier to handle and aim. Stay safe!
