Why wouldn’t you trust a Zigbee temp sensor in this scenario?

Good question. I trust Zigbee for other applications, but I was initially hesitant about using it in a metal box at freezing temperatures. However, the Zigbee temp sensors with external probes have proven to be reliable.
YoLink is my go-to. I switched to it after dealing with unreliable Acurite sensors. It integrates well with Alexa, alerting you if the freezer door stays open too long.
Another vote for YoLink. It’s saved me from a power outage that could have spoiled everything in my freezer. They also have great leak sensors.
I set up a simple temperature alarm and put a camera on it. When I’m out, I can check the camera to see the temperature and get notified if the alarm goes off. It’s a budget-friendly solution.
I recommend YoLink. It works well over long distances, even in my detached shed. I can monitor the temperature from anywhere and get alerts if it goes out of the set range. The battery life is solid too.
Consider Trakkit. It measures both temperature and humidity and has been reliable for me.
I use Zooz sensors, but had to switch from Aqara due to the thickness of my fridge and freezer doors. I get alerts and display temps on my dashboards. Check out my setup here: https://imgur.com/gallery/34wrQ9V
