I just moved into a new place and found this system installed. I’m not sure what it is. I was thinking of going with Simplisafe, but maybe I should stick with this? The thing on the right looks like some kind of cellular unit? Do I need to call an alarm company to get it working?
That’s a Vista system. These are simple panels that are known to last a long time. The white box on the right is a cell communicator. Any alarm company can get this going for you. Honestly, this is a much better option than Simplisafe.
If you’re good with DIY, you can even set it up yourself.
Agreeing with the others here. If you’re comfortable with tech, you can add something like an Envisalink Duo and get IP+LTE UL monitoring for around $13/month.
What everyone said is right. This is an older system, but still great (looks like it could be from Colorado Springs maybe?). It’ll last you a long time, and unless you have some specific needs, it’s probably better than newer systems.
That’s definitely a Honeywell Vista. Way better than Simplisafe, unless it stops working, I’d say stick with it.
The others have given solid advice. That’s a Vista-20P panel, and you’re much better off with it. You can probably even retrieve the master code with just a few steps if needed.

I’m thinking it might be a Vista 10 or 15 based on the number of terminals? But I’m not 100% sure, I don’t work with Ademco that much Envisalink is definitely a good choice though.

Good point. If you zoom in, it’s missing zones 7 and 8. So yeah, probably a 15P, but still a solid system overall.
