Exactly. It’s like three comments really helping me and the others just focused on one part of what I said and ignored the rest.
@Phillip
As a safety tip, when working on electrical stuff, I usually turn off the main breaker, not just the specific one. It’s always better to be extra safe.
Clearly, your landlord isn’t an electrician.

And certainly not a female one at that

True lol
Do you have access to the tplink app? This isn’t a regular light switch. Don’t start unwiring anything just yet. Just press the on/off once in the app and sync your button location with your status in the app.
@Cole
Yes, it’s working perfectly

If I understand correctly, you want to reverse on/off. Just put the button in the position of off and click off in the app.

No, it was installed upside down. But it’s working fine.
@Phillip
Awesome. The other commenters don’t realize you can swap the action of the switch in the app and don’t need to rewire/unscrew/reverse anything. These switches are “smart” but the users sometimes aren’t. I could understand wanting the dimmer buttons above the switch.
Yes, you can flip it. But you’re going to be near wires. Turn off your breaker. Unscrew it, pull it out slowly, and SLOWLY twist it 180 being careful not to lose any wires in the process. Put screws back in and snap the cover plate back on. And your being a woman is not relevant to your ability to perform this task!
