It looks like there’s a wire behind it… connected to the wall.
Just pull it off, cut the wire, and patch the wall. Should be good to go.
No need to overthink it. Cut the wire, tuck it into the wall, and cover up the holes. Most sensors are either low voltage or battery-powered, so there’s no big risk.
If the alarm system uses end-of-line resistors, removing a sensor could cause a trouble alert. It’s not a great idea to just cut and hide the wires without confirming how the system is set up. Make sure to cap the wires if you do this, and consider programming the alarm panel to ignore that sensor’s input.

I disconnected the wires from the panel and capped them off. Everything seems fine now.

Great! If there’s no trouble alert, then you’re in the clear.
I have some of these sensors around the house too. Thinking of keeping them in case I want to use them later. Are they still useful?
You could actually use that motion sensor for home automation. It’s already wired, so no need to worry about batteries. You could connect it to a Konnected system or another smart setup.
