DR Horton Safe Haven Equipment Question

A relative is closing on a DR Horton house in a month, and I’m managing their tech setup. We don’t want the Safe Haven tech installing anything, as we already have a preferred setup, but some of the provided smart home equipment might be useful if it integrates with their existing system.

I’ve seen mentions of people getting Safe Haven to mail the equipment instead of installing it—has anyone here done that? Was it a hassle to get them to agree? Any tips or advice on how to approach them?

Thanks in advance for your help!

In my case, they wouldn’t leave anything without installing it. Looking back, I’m not sure if the equipment was worth the effort anyway.

I’ve seen some threads where people mentioned they had the equipment mailed to them, so I’m hoping to go that route. Maybe it depends on the rep you deal with?

That’s what I did—they mailed me the equipment without any hassle. It was all generic installer codes, so I could set it up myself. I ended up selling the doorbell but used a few of the switches since I already have a HomeKit setup.

Did you have to push them to mail the gear, or was it straightforward?

No, it wasn’t a fight at all. I just told them I wasn’t interested in having a plan or the installation. They said since it’s included in the house purchase, they’d mail it out to me. Super easy.
