Do security signs like ADT actually keep intruders away or just advertising?

My dad always said, ‘Locks are just there to keep honest people honest.’ If someone really wants in, they’ll get in, but a security sign makes it easier for them to pick another house instead.

It depends. If the sign is from a security company that no longer exists, burglars might assume the system isn’t working. But if it’s from a well-known company, it could make them think twice.

ADT requires customers to keep their signs up during the contract period. They say it’s for advertising, but it definitely helps deter criminals too.

A sign might scare off an amateur burglar, but a professional will just see it as a hint about what kind of system you have.

My home has been broken into three times. The signs didn’t do much. Cameras and good locks made a bigger difference.

A sign might help, but it’s not foolproof. If a burglar is determined, they’ll find a way in. That’s why it’s best to have cameras, motion lights, and other layers of security.

Signs don’t stop burglars if they’re really determined. People do crazy things for money or their next fix.
