any brand suggestions or links?

@Terryanne
any brands or specific models?

lots of spy cameras are disguised as clocks or books and have motion detection. many are only accessible locally, but they still work for monitoring. you just wouldn’t see it live.

if it’s local, a simple raspberry pi setup can give it remote access.

saw a charger brick cam on eBay, it’s functional and has a hidden camera.

when my mom needed more care, i was worried about how she’d be treated in the nursing home. i lived nearby and would drop in at all hours to check.

some tiny cameras have WiFi, but many only work locally. a WiFi hotspot might help relay footage back to you, though it won’t be real-time. that’s how i’ve shared video from action cameras before. subscription services might also be an option.

@PhantomFable
WiFi isn’t actually that slow for live streaming, though.

any good recommendations? my action cam WiFi has always lagged.

depends on the access point, might need to upgrade.

try the blink mini, you can hide it on a shelf among some items, just turn off the recording LED.

i second the blink mini. with the LED and night vision off, it blends in easily.

if possible, just get a new caregiver.

totally, that’s probably the easiest and safest solution.

a hidden camera is a good way to check if things are safe for your grandma. there are definitely WiFi-enabled spy cameras out there that will let you keep an eye on things and help protect her if needed.

honestly, all nursing homes should have cameras in the rooms for family access.

are there any actual recommendations here or just opinions?

i have a sketchy roommate who keeps taking my stuff. any good hidden camera options?

honestly, just put one in the open if you’re that worried. hidden cameras are usually more for catching people off guard, like if you think someone’s sneaking around.

there’s a uk company that sells everyday items with built-in hidden cameras. pricey, though.
